Here is the animated advertisement for Karrie Fransman’s new graphic novel ‘The House That Groaned’ which is about to be released in January 2012 by Random House’s Square Peg.

Karrie gave a fascinating paper in our recent conference Graphic Medicine: Visualizing the Stigma of Illness entitled The Body as a Canvas in Comics: An Artist Examines the Health of the social body in her graphic novel ‘The House That Groaned’ which explored the body as a social, rather than purely biological entity and argued for increased awareness of the bodies in comics as representative of the issues of a wider society.

Update: here is the audio from Karrie’s talk in our latest podcast episode.
